Arts & Ideas is a 21st-century school in Northeast Baltimore where students ages 5 through 16 learn, explore and grow in a stimulating, supportive community.

Our school is based on a philosophy of education first pioneered by the Sudbury Valley School in 1968 and now operating in more than 30 schools worldwide. Arts & Ideas approaches schooling from the learner's point of view, turning conventional education on its head.

De Kampanje is een school voor jonge mensen van 4 tot 19 jaar. Het is een kleine, gezellige particuliere school met veel aandacht voor het individu. Jonge mensen zijn van nature nieuwsgierig, leergierig en gemotiveerd. Op veel scholen zie je die eigenschappen nauwelijks terug. Door de manier van werken wordt het eigen initiatief, de motivatie om te leren, en het doorzettingsvermogen van jongeren vaak ondermijnd. Onze ervaring is dat dit niet ligt niet aan de jongeren zelf, maar aan de manier waarop onderwijs wordt vormgegeven.

At Diablo Valley School, real life is the curriculum. Students learn life's most valuable skills: self confidence, concentration, problem-solving, decision-making, academics, personal responsibility and respect for others. Fairhaven’s goal is to provide students ages 5 through 19 the time and support needed to develop the character traits of successful people. We are a democratic school. Our daily social interactions provide the opportunity for individuals to learn. Children learn through experience - through following their interests, coming to terms with boundaries, and understanding the consequences of their actions. School Members are free to learn as they wish, when they are ready, to the extent that they are interested, with the full understanding that they make their own learning decisions. Through this process, individuals develop personal responsibility.

Jersey Shore Free School is a free, democratic Sudbury school where children and teens are free to explore life and learning in their own way and at their own pace.

Jordan Lake Sudbury School is a democratic school for students from kindergarten through high school. The school is based on a philosophy of education pioneered by the Sudbury Valley School in Framingham, MA in 1968.

    Our fundamental belief is that all children are curious by nature and the most valuable and profound learning takes place when initiated and pursued by the students in a way that makes the most sense to them. Students of all ages are free to decide for themselves how to spend their days. All learning styles and all types of pursuits are valued here.

Leeway is a school for students ages 4 through 18 to design and implement their own unique educational program in a democratic community.

De MerKaBa Sudbury School is een kleinschalige, gezellige, particuliere school in Oud-Vossemeer (op het prachtige eiland Tholen), voor jonge mensen van 4 tot 19 jaar, met veel aandacht voor het individu.

Doordat er kinderen in de leeftijd van 4 t/m 18 jaar welkom zijn is onze school dus zowel een basisschool als een middelbare school!

Lehrer müssen davon ausgehen, dass gewöhnliche SchülerInnen außergewöhnliche Fähigkeiten haben.   Wir werden oft gefragt, ob die Schüler an unserer Schule auch etwas lernen, ob die nicht nur den ganzen Tag spielen und nichts tun, ob da nur Chaos herrscht? Kinder brauchen doch klare Regeln und Strukturen, um zu lernen. Nun, der Mensch lernt immer. Unser Gehirn kann gar nicht anders.

De Sudbury school Gent is een democratische school voor kinderen en jongeren van 2,5 tot 19 jaar. 

Een school met oog voor persoonlijke interesses en met het accent op verantwoordelijkheid voor zichzelf, anderen en de omgeving.

De studenten bepalen er zelf hun koers en kunnen inspraak hebben in het schoolbeleid.

At Sudbury Valley School, students from preschool through high school age explore the world freely, at their own pace and in their own unique ways. They learn to think for themselves, and learn to use Information Age tools to unearth the knowledge they need from multiple sources. They develop the ability to make clear logical arguments, and deal with complex ethical issues. Through self-initiated activities, they pick up the basics; as they direct their lives, they take responsibility for outcomes, set priorities, allocate resources, and work with others in a vibrant community

Like all Sudbury Schools, Tallgrass Sudbury School is run as a democracy. Day-to-day operations at Tallgrass are handled by the School Meeting, where each student and staff member has one vote. The School Meeting creates the rules and regulations.

Each day, Clearwater students explore the world guided by their own interests, moving at their own pace. Free to think about who they are and what to do with their time, they play, talk openly with friends, investigate the world and dream. Students draw from our staff and resources, as well as the offerings of the local community.

Without grades, groupings by age or mandatory tests, children engage wholeheartedly in their passions—discovering for themselves their place in the world.

The Philadelphia Free School is a democratic school operated by its students, staff, parents, and community members. Each individual in the school community, ages 5-adult, has one vote in decision making. The School Assembly consists of all of these members and decides broad policies of the school. The School Meeting consists of students and staff and makes day-to-day decisions about school functioning. There is no Principal, tenure, or hierarchy among employees.

Students who leave with a Sudbury education, leave with the confidence to direct their own lives, recognize and pursue their passions, work within a community, and are able to maneuver in a world that is constantly flexing. This is truly an education for a changing world.
